CMS Special Session: Categories and Topology
June 1, 2018 - June 4, 2018
The purpose of this session is to bring together researchers from category theory and various branches of topology. This includes categorical aspects and approaches to homotopy theory, such as
Quillen Model Categories, higher-dimensional categories and (higher) topos theory, homotopy type theory, as well as categorical approaches to differential geometry, such as tangent categories.
In Canada, there are several research groups involved in these lines of scientific inquiry, several of which include researchers in Atlantic Canada, and we believe that a CMS session would be an excellent opportunity for these researchers to learn more about each other’s methods, and to make further strides towards the goal of better understanding the connections between the various aspects of this research. This will also be an opportunity for doctoral students in Atlantic Canada to meet other researchers working in these areas.
