CMS Special Session: Singularities and Phase transitions in Nonlinear PDEs

The CMS session at Fredericton will focus on nonlinear problems related to the study of phase transitions in condensed matter, and of dynamical systems arising in biological applications. The analysis of the models presented will be based on calculus of variations methods, geometric analysis of nonlocal problems, and dimension-reduction methods in nonlinear evolution equations. The session will provide a forum for junior scientists, who have already shown an ability to make significant contributions to the area, to present and discuss their most recent results. About half of the participants will be coming from the Atlantic region and represent an important part of the contribution to our session. From the Atlantic region, the participants would be: Mohammad El Smaily (UNB Fredericton), Scott Rodney (Cape Breton), Shaohua Chen (Cape Breton), Holger Teismann (Acadia), and the others will be coming from Canada and the US so that there will be important exchange.
